This event is open to Forbes employees, returning mentees, mentee applicants, and mentee alums, and STARS partners ONLY!
Facilitated by Girls Write Now, “Mentees for the Day ” and Forbes employees—“Mentors for the day” will be led through a series of prompts and ultimately write letters to help each other through this unusual and anxiety-producing time. Mentors learn about the concerns of diverse NYC youth during the time of COVID-19 and a growing movement for racial justice. Mentees learn about the concerns of Forbes employees and gain from their professional and personal experience growing up and managing times of stress. An intergenerational exchange occurs through the act of letter writing. Participants will have the option to share their writing in the group chat, or aloud.
Girls Write Now’s Writing Works programming is based on the principle that writing is crucial across all industries from publishing and advertising to entertainment, finance, and beyond. Through Writing Works, we teach you how to be clear communicators and take creative risks in order to capture the attention of admissions officers and prospective employers, and be competitive candidates for the trails you choose to blaze.
