What is happening to brown trout in Montana? - with Travis Horton, FWP Fisheries Manager
Is the future of brown trout in Montana like the photo of the 13 pound monster electroshocked on the Yellowstone or like the brown pictured suffering from Ulcerative Dermal Necrosis? Browns in the Shields, Yellowstone, Madison, Beaverhead, Big Hole and Flathead rivers have been affected, along with rainbows and whitefish. Populations have crashed in many of these rivers with declines in fish per mile of over 50%. Travis Horton, Fisheries Manager, Region 3, FWP, will provide us with insights into the reasons for this and what FWP and other stakeholders can do to mitigate the trend.
