This masterclass will be introduced by Marko Erman.
Marko Erman has long been the Chief Scientific Officer of THALES Group, he now serves as scientific counsel of the CEO of this group.
We will ask him to position the key technologies as he sees them, and to describe some impacts on different domains, and also to suggest how to succeed using them.
His introduction will be followed by a roundtable with the attendees.

Dr Marko Erman graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique in 1977, and got a second Engineer diploma from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in 1980. He obtained a PhD diploma from Solid State Physics at the University of Orsay and a Doctorat d’Etat es Science from the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris.
Dr. Erman spent several years managing research activities within Philips as Director of Exploratory Research Division, and than Director of Professional Imaging Division. After joining Alcatel in 1991, he became within the Corporate Research Center, the Director of the Opto-electronic components Division of Alcatel in 1993, and in 1997, Director of the Optical Systems Department. In 2001, he was appointed Chief Technical Officer & Vice President Strategy of Alcatel Optronics. In 2003, he joined Thales as Director of Research & Technology of the Land & Joint Systems Division. In April 2009, Marko Erman was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Thales. In January 2020, he become Senior Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer of Thales, reporting directly to the CEO.
Dr Erman has received the Blondel Award, is member of the French Academy of Technology and Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.
