ANNOUNCING THE 2ND ANNUAL OCEAN LIFE SYMPOSIUM 10/26-30/2020

Gualala, CA September 29, 2020 –The Second Annual Ocean Life Symposium 2020 will be held this year free of charge via Zoom and simulcast live on KGUA public radio, YouTube, and Facebook 9am-10am from October 26 to October 29, 2020, with a repeat each day on KGUA’s Peggy’s Place from 1pm-2pm. A variety of ocean experts will present topics that will provide new insight on the status of our oceans and the life forms that inhabit them.
Speakers include Orca Network’s Howard Garrett and London Fletcher, The Ocean Foundation’s Richard Charter, Ocean Conservation Research’s Michael Stocker, Humboldt University’s Jeff Jacobson, University of New Hampshire’s Carter Mercer, Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Marianne Long, Redlands University’s Tessa Foster, Noyo Center for Marine Science’s Sarah Grimes, and Blue Planet Solutions’ Zack Klyver. The last day of the event will be a wrap with event organizers Scott and Tree Mercer of Mendonoma Whale and Seal Study who coordinated the Ocean Life Symposium with a team of scientists and ocean advocates on the Mendocino Coast. Moderator is Thais Mazur, co-founder of Mendocino Marine Life Advocates. Broadcast producer is KGUA’s Program Director and Host Leigh Anne Lindsey.
KGUA public radio in Gualala will broadcast the symposium each weekday at 88.3FM and online at KGUA.org and will simulcast on their YouTube channel and Facebook page. The symposium will be viewable afterwards on KGUA’s website and social media channels, on the Mendocino Marine Life Advocates website, and Mendonoma Whale and Seal Study’s FaceBook Page. This independent media station (operated by Native American woman and longtime journalist Peggy Berryhill) welcomes all sponsorships and donations in support of this event.
