Miriam will talk about the issues facing women in rural communities during the pandemic, specifically how people are addressing a rise in violence against women in the region of Chalatenango in El Salvador.
Miriam is a representative of the Sister Parish committee in San José la Montaña and the community development organization CORDES (https://cordes.org.sv/). Miriam's work with CORDES focuses on women's rights and empowerment. Due to the pandemic, CORDES has developed alternative campaigns to address women's rights and violence against women.
We are grateful Miriam is able to take time in her busy schedule to talk to us about the reality in Chalatenango and how the communities are organizing in the context of the pandemic.
