IDCCA Virtual Training Series - Womens Health Issues Panel Discussion

The IDCCA has launched a new statewide Virtual Training Series to help train County Chairs, Precinct Committeepersons, Volunteers, & Boot Camp Alumni throughout Illinois. The Virtual Training Series is an hour long session that connects grassroots Democrats with elected officials & politicos to help build their organizations.

All trainings start at 6pm (unless otherwise noted). The training will last around an hour with a 15-minute Q&A session at the end.

This session we will be a legislative update and panel discussion, specifically regarding women's healthcare issues. This session is meant to provide information regarding legislation and messaging.

The panel discussion will be moderated by former State Senator & IDCCA Leadership Circle Member Heather Steans. The panelists will include: Brigid Leahy, Senior Director of Public Policy at Planned Parenthood Illinois Action, Eileen Dordek, Chair of the Board of Personal PAC, and State Representative Camille Lilly.

There will be a discussion on the following topics:
* Family planning funding
* Responsible Education for Adolescent and Children’s Health (REACH) Act – personal health and safety education in grades K-12
* Repeal of the Parental Notice of Abortion Act
* Addressing maternal health disparities

The session will be split into two parts. The first part will be an update on women's healthcare legislation. The second part will be a panel discussion with legislators, elected officials, & community advocates.
