In this 10-part series, lecturer Jim Levey will examine China’s history, philosophies, and traditions from ancient times through the present to better understand the underlying forces that explain China today. This is a hybrid program that can be attended both in-person and online.
Copies of the syllabus for this lecture series can be picked up at the Irvington Public Library Reference Desk.
Formerly a partner at American China Mercantile and Senior Manager at IBM and Amdocs, Jim holds a Masters in China Studies from the Asian Institute, St. John’s University, New York and has travelled to China extensively on business. In 2018, he researched and wrote a new curriculum (reviewed by China experts at Columbia) that spans Chinese history from antiquity to present, to enable a more insightful view of “China in the Modern World.” He is now lecturing at public libraries and continuing education centers in major metro regions.
