Game on! Using games based learning to explore global issues in Transition Year
How can young people learn about issues affecting our world today through games-based learning? What is gamification and what contributions can games-based approaches make in challenging and stirring action in Transition Year spaces on global justice and human rights?

This session will be of interest to: Transition Year coordinators, Transition Unit educators and TY specialists

This 1-hour online workshop will:

• Provide an introductory space for games based learning
• Include suggested integration ideas and opportunities in TY programmes and TU developers
• Explore gamification and what global justice means when introducing educators to games design techniques for using in the classroom as a stimulus for social change
• Share games for learning that have been developed since the Covid-19 pandemic suitable in learning and education contexts in hybrid contexts
• Have a Q&A format on how games for learning and game-based design (such as how to design your own games activities
• Launch a new developmenteducation.ie feature on games and global citizenship education
