On October 12th, SAR Europe (hosted at Maynooth University in Ireland) in cooperation with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, will hold an online meeting on developing a Scholars at Risk (SAR) section in Greece for interested higher education institutions , NGOs, government representatives, and individuals.
This meeting will explore the current challenges facing scholars, and academic freedom globally and how Greek organisations and individuals can best respond. It will look at models of existing SAR sections in Europe and the possible structure and activities of a future SAR Greece section.
Registration for the meeting is free but is required (below). The working language for the meeting will be English.
Also, SAR Europe at Maynooth University (MU), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and 8 other European partners are working together on the EC funded project; Inspireurope, which aims to forge a coordinated, cross-sectoral, Europe-wide alliance for researchers at risk.
These are researchers who are at risk in their countries of origin (due to discrimination, persecution, suffering and/or violence) or are seeking refuge out of these reasons or have recently found refuge in Europe. For more information, see: https://www.maynoothuniversity.ie/sar-europe/inspireurope
