The 2023 Spring Art & Science of Community Organizing (ASCOT) - Day 1/6
ASCOT is 6-day training facilitated by a team of regional leaders who have worked across Washington State and beyond in community engagement, policy development, prevention programming, leadership development, equity literacy, and community change. The Prevention Specialist Certification Board of Washington approves the training and permits participants who fully complete the course to earn 24 prevention credit hours. For 2023, the training is only offered remotely until it becomes much safer to convene in person. The Washington Association for Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention (WASVP) sponsors ASCOT and receives financial support from the NW HIDTA.

In exploring culturally responsive and equity-centered violence and substance use disorder prevention strategies and best practices, the ASCOT curriculum integrates the following -
• 4 cross-cutting themes
• 6 toolboxes
• Daily showcases
• A bank of online resources
• A participant completed course project

Spread out across seven (7) consecutive weeks, ASCOT will be offered on Wednesdays from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM; participants will be engaged virtually utilizing the Zoom platform.
• Day One, Wednesday, 3/8/23
• Day Two, Wednesday, 3/15/23
• Day Three, Wednesday, 3/22/23
• Day Four, Wednesday, 3/29/23
• Day Five, Wednesday, 4/12/23
• Day Six, Wednesday, 4/19/23

Priority will be given to practitioners who are committed to fully attending all six (6) of the scheduled sessions and participating as an active member of the course learning community.

By registering for ASCOT's Day 1/6 automatically secures all six days of the training. Course tuition is $900 and many scholarships are available.
