Green Key Biodiversity Webinar Series: Welcoming nature as your guest - Biophilic design in the hotel industry
In this webinar, you will learn what biophilic design is and how it contributes to the health and wellbeing of guests and staff as well as to the environmental performance of your establishment.

The word Biophilia originates from the two ancient Greek words “bio” (life) and “philia” (love) and basically describes humans’ affinity to nature and other forms of life.

Especially in urban environments that are dominated by concrete, glass and steel, however, people are often disconnected from the natural world. At the same time, nature is not given enough space to re-establish this connection. Biophilic design is a design concept that ‘brings the outdoors inside’ by incorporating natural elements such as plants, water, daylight and natural patterns and materials in the built environment.

Our speakers Prof. Dr. Willy Legrand, Professor at IU International University of Applied Sciences and Miriam Francisco Santana, Green Key Project Manager at FEE México will give you an introduction to biophilic design in the hotel industry and provide practical examples related to this topic. The key questions addressed in this webinar are:
- What is biophilic design?
- What are the benefits of biophilic design?
- How does biophilic design contribute to the protection of biodiversity?

The webinar is part of our Green Key Biodiversity Webinar Series running in April and May 2022. Follow Green Key on Facebook or LinkedIn for upcoming online events!
