CLIMATE AND CULTURE: FOCUS ON GREEN
Hosted by the Creative Europe Desk Ireland - Culture office
We are delighted to invite you to attend our event focusing on how the culture and creative sector in Ireland can contribute to Europe’s recovery and to its green, sustainable & inclusive future.
Wednesday May 25th 2022.
Zoom: 10.30am – 12.30pm.
This session will provide details on European policy in the area of Climate and Culture which informs the priorities of the Creative Europe programme. We will showcase how projects in this area are well underway both in Ireland and internationally and hope our speakers can give both individual artists and organisations some insights into how you can embed climate action into your practice.
We will be looking at policy priorities for Creative Europe and will be joined by Ruth Reichstein- Member of I.D.E.A. Advisory Board to the European Commission President on European Green Deal and New European Bauhaus. Alice Ryan from the Arts Council of Ireland will present with Claire Buckley from Julie's Bicycle in the UK on developing a new Climate Policy for the Arts Council. Philipp Dietachmair from the European Cultural Foundation will look at green mobility for artists and the i-Portunus award from Creative Europe.
Niamh Ní Chonchubhair from Axis Ballymun and artist Maeve Stone will reflect on the Creative Europe project Cultural Adaptations and their Green Arts Department. Irish artist Rita Marcalo will join us live from her slow travel performative work SlowMo which is funded by Perform Europe.
We will also be joined by Tania Banotti from Creative Ireland to talk about Creative Climate Action Fund and we will hear from Bernadine Carroll about one of the funded projects Reimagine by Irish Architecture Foundation- a community and architectural project working with the people from Bórd na Móna villages across Ireland.
