The Lingaun catchment is one of 190 areas nationally that are prioritised for action to improve water quality. This river stretches from the Sliabh na mBan mountains to the town of Carrick on Suir where it joins the River Suir itself.
LAWPRO scientists will be working in the area over the coming months, and part of that work involves progress updates for the local community. It will be a collaborative effort with Tipperary County Council, State agency partners and the agricultural sector to respond to the water quality issues identified. This is a new way of working and everyone in the catchment can also help to protect and care for good water quality in the area.
Normally, LAWPRO would host a public meeting in-person with the local community, to discuss water quality in a catchment and explain our work in detail. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, these Community Information Meetings are taking place via Zoom.
