The National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) in partnership with the National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) presents the "The Art of Holding Space: Mindful facilitation for the Applied Practitioner with Applied Arts Facilitator, Drama Therapist & Reflexive Practitioner, Esmeralda Cloete.
The workshop series aims to engage and train creatives, students and activists in using Applied Theatre methods towards provoking and shaping social change in Namibia. This includes awareness on how to develop revised forms of relationships between performers and ‘audiences’, and also within targeted communities and spaces.
Esmeralda Cloete is a performance artist, activist and an applied arts facilitator born and raised in Namibia. She obtained a Master’s degree in Drama Therapy from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and currently works as an intern drama therapist at the Drama for Life department. Esmeralda is passionate about using the arts for social change and healing in educational and community settings. Coming from a background and training in applied drama and theatre, performing arts and therapy, she grounds her work in critical reflective praxis, personal development, social justice and transformation.
