Meet the speakers

Jennifer Polzin is a communications strategist and marketeer. She chairs JCI Europe’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee having initiated many JCI projects focusing on gender equality. Equal Pay Day – an event in cooperation with Business and Professional Women – marks the annual period in which women work for free compared to their male counterparts. A gap including structural conditions such as women working in lower-paid industries or occupations and less likely reaching management positions.

Ilona Alcock: Director – JCI UK; Co-Founder – Elevate  

Ilona is a Director on the 2021 JCI UK National Board team, with a focus on marketing and sustainability. Her JCI highlights include being President of JCI Sheffield in 2014, winning three European awards and being shortlisted for a World award, reaching the European finals of both public speaking and debating, and being made a Senator in 2018.

Her professional career has been hugely varied, including law, higher education and recruitment, and she recently co-founded a business development organisation, Elevate. Through this company, she delivers training on public speaking, personal branding, networking and carbon literacy, as well as facilitating introductions, running events and offering bespoke support.

Mel Hill: Marketing Communications Consultant

Mel is an award-winning digital marketing and communications consultant with the knowledge and passion to improve brand efficiency online. Mel fell in love with digital marketing after being tasked with updating social media accounts as a sports journalist, when social media as a news source was just beginning. She has since crafted her digital marketing experience in various sectors including sport, technology and charity. Mel won JCI Manchester's Young Marketing Professional of the Year Award in 2019 and is currently working with national and international brands.
