Go Green Illinois (MONTH) Meeting
The focus of the March 14, 2023 meeting of Go Green Illinois will be "Promoting Natural Lawn Care and Native Habitat In Our Communities.” We will start with a talk by Pam Karlson, backyard habitat specialist featured in Doug Tallamy’s book, Nature’s Best Hope” on the “why” - just how critical this issue is for addressing climate change, and for the health of our communities and inhabitants - two legged, four-legged and winged.

Then, the program will continue with a variety of speakers presenting on the “how.”

How can you host a Sustainable Yard Tour to inspire your community by Amy Call and Camilla Dadey of Go Green Deerfield.

How can you host a plant, shrub and small tree sale to encourage the planting of more native plants (or add a bit to the cost of each plant and make it a fundraiser) by Karen Glennemeier of Go Green Wilmette.

How can people manage their yards with a minimum of herbicides and pesticides by Steve Neumann of Logic Lawn Care. (Speaker to be confirmed.)

How can you educate your community on the dangers of private, backyard mosquito spray services by Mark Clifton of the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District.

How can you create or strengthen a tree ordinance in your community by using the Morton Arboretums’ new resources and grant funding by Colette Copic of the Morton Arboretum
