Have you ever noticed how utilities across the country seem to be using the same tactics against us? Like claiming they need more infrastructure (but won’t release the data that shows need) or facilitating the appointment of their friends to positions like public services commissions? It’s almost as if they have a shared playbook that they are using... They do.
Well, the Energy Democracy Project is fighting back by releasing the People’s Utility Justice Playbook. Through extensive research and case studies, this playbook has tactics that will help us equitably eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and advance utility justice. In addition to the playbook, there’s a companion guide called the People’s History of Utilities which tells the story of how our energy system was developed. Join Yesenia Rivera, Solar United Neighbors, and Nora Elmarzouky, Centennial Parkside CDC to learn more about the playbook and how you can use it to expand energy democracy in a community near you.
