Although legislation forbids a child to be denied access to school on the basis of whether or not the child is continent and toilet trained, in practice many children with special needs face exclusion based on this criteria.
Can children with special needs be toilet trained? If so, how do you do it? Is there a difference between being continent and being toilet trained? How do you assist a child who is incontinent to manage their own bladder and bowel control?
