Rad◦i◦cle: Intro to Timber Sale Comment-Writing

Public comments are one of the few ways that the public can affect the process of planning projects on public land─and it can feel a little overwhelming to write one. Let’s demystify the process of commenting on projects planned on public land so we can more effectively change these projects for the better! Join us to hear from Mia and Ashley, comment writers and volunteers, as they talk about the ecology of a public comment.

The words of the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Air, and the Clean Water Act are dense and complicated. The words used by agencies are equally confusing and misleading. How are we as the public able use our words to impact these projects? At this meeting, we will talk about how the Forest Service plans its projects, where in these processes we can add our comments, and what those comments can look like.

This workshop is part of Rad◦i◦cle, Bark's activist training program. With courses on forest ecology, forest management policy, timber sale monitoring, forest first aid and hike leading, public lands advocacy and community organizing, Rad◦i◦cle is designed to cultivate powerful forest defenders who are ready to take action to protect clean water, biodiversity, and the incredible forest ecosystems where we live and around the world.
