Java with Joy followed by Outreach Minutes: Law Enforcement & Prison Reform
If you are only joining us for Outreach Minutes to take an Outreach Circle action with us, join this meeting at 11:00. Java with Joy's discussion starts at 10:00.

Law enforcement is facing many challenges amidst pronouncements of “defund the police,” and prisons are facing their own set of problems with high recidivism rates and COVID-19 infections. Please join us for an insightful discussion with three experts on the topic:

Ron Smith was executive director of Second Chance Prisoner Reentry Program and has given numerous presentations on mass incarceration and reentry.

Mark Terman holds a Masters of Public Administration and graduated from the FBI National Academy.

Maddie Rues works for a nonprofit called Brothers in Blue Reentry, serving as the Site Coordinator for an in-prison program within this organization called LEAD - Ladies Empowered and Driven.

While we all come from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, it is important to address challenging topics together so we can build policies and programs that serve and benefit everyone in our state. Law enforcement and prison policies are controversial topics, and we hope you come with questions that will lead to a deeper understanding of the issues.
