A year to the day on from our first Radix webinar on UK-China Relations we will be asking how things have changed and developed.
This online event is named after a book which Sir Vince Cable - one of speakers - will be publishing in the Autumn, “The China Conundrum: Engagement or Economic War”.
Together with Sir Vince, will be Labour's Minister for Asia and Pacific, Stephen Kinnock MP, Conservative campaigner for Tibet and the Uighar people, Tim Loughton MP, Isabel Hilton, CEO of China Dialogue and Renaud Girard, Foreign affairs columnist of Le Figaro. The discussion will be moderated by Quartz magazine's Geopolitics Reporter, Annabelle Timsit. We will consider in particular the impact of:
The latest Covid developments and the international recovery
The ongoing treatment of the Uighars and the fall out in the UK Parliament
The impact of the new US Presidency and in particular their action on climate change
China’s behaviour towards Hong Kong and Taiwan
Arising from our discussion we hope to begin to identify some principles for future work following on from our paper: China: Friend, Foe or Both? https://radixuk.org/wp-content/uploads/Radix_China-Paper-July-2020_ePub.pdf
