Expressions of gender are changing — rapidly. We all must expand our understanding of gender and gender diversity to be able to better serve our community. Many of us hear terms we don’t fully understand, have questions we’re nervous to ask, and hold a different framework for gender than the one emerging all around us. This session is designed to establish new understandings of gender and gender.

Learning objectives:

· Learn key concepts related to gender diversity

· Develop a shared vocabulary for talking about gender

Gender Diversity in Library Spaces

This lunchtime session will be a mixture of presentation and conversation exploring the subject of gender diversity in libraries. We will explore topics such as updating forms, inclusive bathroom options, gender inclusive interactions with community members, as well as challenges to your library’s resources.
Learning objectives:

· Understand the impact of gender affirming language, spaces, and policies

· Understand how to create greater gender inclusivity at the library

· Learn strategies for responding to concerned citizens
