*Tonight’s salon is a courageous, healing space for personal writing. Our hosts plan to share sensitive topics like sexual assault, violence and abortion.*
Join us on Friday, April 16 from 6-7:30PM ET for Speaking the Unspeakable: Writing Yourself into Poems! In this salon, Editor Diana Whitney and Poet Lynn Melnick will create a courageous space for writing poetry that centers around taboo emotions, rewriting stigma and living uncensored. Using prompts inspired from You Don’t Have to Be Everything: Poems for Girls Becoming Themselves, which features a poem by Amanda Gorman, participants will also gain insight into constructing an anthology and learn that no matter the age, your raw, unique voice can be a gift to the world.
Our Friday Night Salons are a space for our community to learn from and write with incredible authors, poets, journalists and novelists. This event is free and open to the public because of generous supporters like you who power Girls Write Now’s cutting-edge programs. If you are able to pay, your tax-exempt donation will help make more events like this possible.
We continue to prioritize serving a diverse group and cultivating an inclusive network, and therefore respectfully request demographic information. This information will be used solely to ensure future events reflect communities most impacted by the current realities in this country.
