Zigzag Timber Sale Comment-Writing Training: Aquatic and Riparian
The Forest Service has just released the draft Environmental Assessment of the Zigzag Integrated Resource Project, a proposal that would end a 20-year respite from logging in the Zigzag Ranger District. If approved, as is, this project would log areas of Mt. Hood's sensitive native forest, above the headwaters the Sandy and Salmon Rivers, irreplaceable salmon habitat, and including near popular recreation areas along Lolo Pass Rd, Trillium Lake & Old Maid Flat. This workshop will breakdown the impacts to streams, rivers, and the riparian habitat that fish and wildlife rely on and provide guidance to concerned members of the public about the process of commenting on a timber sale on federal land.
