In this session we will look at some of the issues students present with and their resultant child protection concerns - and how, as a school leader, we can build mechanisms that act as protective factors for such issues.
The world is changing at a rapid pace. Diversification of students, an increasingly connected world and parental engagement can pose challenges for schools. It is important we recognize our population’s needs and engage with those on an appropriate level.
We will explore the tools that can be used to build an inclusive school community - one that is cognizant of the school’s values. We will develop strategies that have child protection at the heart and promote a whole school approach to safety and wellbeing.
Vital to our approach is the engagement of parents and recognition that they are the primary educators of their children. It is also important that we consult with students in an appropriate manner to ensure we truly recognise and understand their needs. This session will provide some of the tools to accomplish this.
