ECHO Series: Introduction to Working with Autism in Latinx Families - La Mesita ECHO & UNC TEACCH® Autism Program Collaboration

El Futuro’s Latinx Mental Health ECHO Teleconsultation Series involves brief didactics on best practices followed by collaborative case consultations with providers from across the state. Each series centers on a specific topic impacting mental health that providers may encounter when working with the Latinx community. The present series was developed with the UNC TEACCH ECHO team and is titled “Introduction to Working with Autism in Latinx Families.” The focus is on helping providers deepen their understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder in general, as well as the ways cultural values and structural issues impact diagnosing and treatment in Latinx communities. The series will provide an overview of the definition and prevalence of autism, as well as the available resources in North Carolina for screening, evaluating, and providing treatment and ongoing support for people and families impacted by ASD.
