About the Workshop Instructor:
Mitsuko Brooks is a 1.5 generation Shin-Issei Japanese American, born on Misawa Air Force Base (Japan) living in Brooklyn. She received her MFA in Painting & Drawing from UCLA, and BFA from Cooper Union. Her work has been featured in The Los Angeles Times, Hyperallergic and The Art Newspaper. She completed artist residencies with The Wassaic Project; and The Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden and participated in The Queen's Museum's Set on Freedom artist retreat. Brooks was awarded grants from Common Field, The Sally Van Der Lier Fellowship, the Artists’ Fellowship, Inc. and The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. She has exhibited at The Japanese Museum of San Jose, Smack Mellon, Makeroom LA and Steve Turner.
