Our science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workforce is crucial to Houston’s innovative capacity and global competitiveness. Yet racial and ethnic minorities remain largely underrepresented in STEM jobs and among STEM degree holders. That leaves an untapped talent pipeline. Our STEM career roundtable seeks to provide students an opportunity to learn about all the career pathways possible post-college in the STEM industry.
EMERGE Career Roundtables are a yearly guest speakers series that connect EMERGE high school and college students to a diverse group of industry leaders. Each one-hour session is exploratory in nature and provides an exclusive opportunity to learn about the variety of career paths possible for talented, first-generation students. Through these roundtables, Houston-area leaders and professionals are able to guide our student’s career exploration process by sharing insights on what skills are important in their field, advice they’d give their younger selves, and more.
