memoQ&A: The Regex Assistant in Practice

The Regex Assistant is a powerful library available in memoQ version 9.9 or later, which organizes and applies solutions or solution elements that use regular expressions, with little or no need to learn regex syntax. In this workshop series, we'll learn how to access, create and edit useful expressions stored in these portable libraries and how to share them with others, even translate them to other languages for those who prefer working with languages other than English.

Regex is a powerful tool to solve common problems faced by translators and reviewers dealing with formatting problems of structured information like dates, currency information, citations, style specifications, tags, placeholders and more. But few language specialists have the time or the desire to learn the arcane mysteries of regex syntax. The Regex Assistant solves this problem and allows prepared, task-oriented expressions to be saved, organized and accessed by plain language names and labels, with clear descriptions of how to use them.

Example expression libraries, special file filters and other resource materials based on the discussions will be made available to registered participants for later study, practice and teaching.
