UK’s Challenge of Implementation for Precision Medicine – the Case of Cancer Vaccines
This roundtable titled ‘UK’s Challenge of Implementation for Precision Medicine – the Case of Cancer Vaccines’ will focus on the challenges to be addressed as the UK endeavours to make cancer prevention by vaccination a reality. According to the latest partnership between the UK Government and BioNTech, cancer patients will get early access to trials exploring personalised mRNA therapies, like cancer vaccines. Patients will access these trials via the Cancer Vaccine Launch Pad.1   

This session will focus on the following areas:  

The use of genomics for patient identification and the role of the Genomics Medicines Service  

The challenges associated with precision medicine implementation within the healthcare workforce  

The need for a strategy relevant to all devolved nations   

The imperative to make the cancer vaccination process inclusive of all members of the population, including underserved communities   

The question of vaccine hesitancy
