Description
Storytelling is a valuable tool for advancing social change, and an understanding of systemic oppression is incomplete without deep listening and learning from people who have experienced injustice firsthand. This webinar will offer participants an introduction to Voice of Witness (VOW) and our oral history methodology, as well as the use of storytelling to document and amplify the experiences of communities impacted by and fighting against injustice. We will explore the power of personal narrative as a format and discuss key elements of the oral history process, including best practices in ethical interviewing and project creation. The webinar will feature VOW staff and Ricia Chansky, editor of the book Mi María: Surviving the Storm, Voices from Puerto Rico. This event is for anyone interested in using first-person storytelling to build community and advance justice. Suggested donation sliding scale of $10-$50: https://voiceofwitness.org/donate Note: By signing up for this webinar, you'll begin receiving the VOW monthly newsletter (you can unsubscribe at any time).
