A Crosswalk of the New Science TEKS: Comparing New K-12 Scientific and Engineering Practices with Current Process Skills

The new scientific and engineering practices (SEPs) emphasize that student should learn how science works by participating in similar experiences that practicing scientists and engineers engage in. These SEP TEKS have students explore and promote interactive experiences using a prescriptive process. EduSmart will provide a side-by-side crosswalk and discuss implications of these changes.

More about your presenter: Lisa Felske Deslaurier is the new Director of Curriculum and Professional Development at EduSmart. Lisa is known for offering challenging, creative, hands-on science educator workshops. She has 34 years of experience in science education, with over 25 years of presenting conference sessions and workshops for science teachers. Before joining EduSmart, she has worked as a classroom teacher (grades 5-12), department chair, online certification teacher, virtual school curriculum designer, independent science consultant, and science curriculum director.
