SVPMA: Everything You've Always Wanted To Know About Intellectual Property
Legal issues related to intellectual property can have positive and negative influences on the successful research, development, and sales of technology products. Awareness of, and planning for, potential negative intellectual property issues can mitigate or avoid risks to the commercial success of new and existing products. Similarly, the development of intellectual property assets can help protect and enhance the success of a product.

This presentation will explore the most common intellectual property legal issues that arise in connection with technology products.

The speaker, Perry Clark, has represented large companies, universities, start-ups, and individuals in intellectual property litigation and transactions for over twenty years.
The topics that will be covered include patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, with examples of how each type of intellectual property can play a role in the success or failure of a project or product line. In particular, we will look at what each type of intellectual property covers and how existing product development work can be leveraged into valuable IP assets. In addition, we will look at how negative intellectual property issues can be avoided, including patent trolls and other issues. The presentation will also look at how globalization and global supply chains can be influenced by intellectual property issues.
