3rd Local Gov Process Improvement Session: Wrexham's Environmental Services & Social Care Improvement

Wrexham County Borough Council are working as an organisation towards people-driven change.

This has been stimulated by the experiences of staff & customers and is being worked on in their “Modern Ways of Working Programme” which has 5 key strands:

• Working Environment
• Technology
• Digital
• Well-being & Sustainability
• Culture & Leadership

The Change programme has a number of change criteria which are as follows:

• Question everything.
• Get the right people in the room.
• Understand the Customer Journey.
• End to End Re-design.
• Evidence the “As is” & “To be” costs.
• Don’t fit old processes around new tech.

Wrexham have demonstrated the power of Process Improvement within Environmental Services around Missed Bins/New Bins and other processes which are high volume contact. This has been so effective that the service now has 2 dedicated full time process analysts working within it.

Wrexham have also focused their Process Improvement team & tool on Social Services and a new Commissioning Shared Services Portal.
