Description: A professor at a California university in the 1960s must deal with loneliness and a sense of disconnection after the death of his longtime partner.  This pioneering gay novel was written by Isherwood, who is most famous for writing the Berlin Stories on which the musical and movie Cabaret is based.   During the writing of the novel, Isherwood was also involved in translating several Hindu texts.
