On Wednesday, January 18th, at 12 p.m. (ET) / 7 p.m. (Athens), our guest speaker Prof. Stathis Kalyvas, Gladstone Professor of Government and fellow of All Souls College at Oxford, will expand on the sustainability issue on the Greek islands, the quality of Greece's tourism, and its future course.
Greece is a popular tourist destination with its sunny climate, beautiful beaches, and rich cultural and historical heritage. However, the country's reliance on tourism as a significant source of revenue has also led to several sustainability issues on the Greek islands. Will Greece's over-exploitation of its landscape for tourist reasons bring about the tragedy of the commons?
Facilitating the discussion is Prof. Eirini Karamouzi, Senior Lecturer in Contemporary History at the University of Sheffield.
