Just Do Something
“Of course I am afraid, because the transformation of silence into language and action is an act of self-revelation, and that always seems fraught with danger.” - Audre Lorde, “The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action”

Miranda's Hearth is continuing our online action event for #BlackLivesMatter every Monday at 5:00 pm. While people of color have been writing, protesting, and sharing their experiences through art and music for hundreds of years, many white people in this country have yet to break the silence and speak out against the systemic racism and violence in our country. Miranda’s Hearth is starting this new social justice event series, Just Do Something, in order to break our silence and move intentionally into action. We hope that you will join us.

On Monday, June 15, we hosted our first Just Do Something action event to demand justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and so many others, and to protest the ongoing racism, violence, and brutality which has been present in our country since its foundation. We start with a list of accessible action items, including signing petitions, writing emails, calling, and donating, and we invite you to bring and share your own resources and action items as well.

Just Do Something strives to breakdown down the seemingly insurmountable task of systematic reform into actionable steps taken in community. Whether you are feeling the need to break your own silence, or whether you are already deeply involved, we hope you will join us via zoom from 5pm – 6pm on Mondays to Just Do Something.
