The Westcoast Reader is a newspaper for learners. The articles in The Westcoast Reader are distinguished by Level 1, 2 and 3 books. They cover themes such as current events, people, health, food, holidays, and more.
During this 1 hour webinar, Jade will provide participants with ideas and suggestions on how The Westcoast Reader can be used in the classroom. Different activity ideas to engage learners at various stages will be shared. Jade will refer to the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs) and LINC levels; however, the activities can also be applied to other learning settings. Time will be given to participants to share their ideas and tried activities.

Jade Chan has over ten years of experience in education, including teaching and curriculum planning for students from kindergarten to adults. Previously, Jade worked at Sylvan as a Centre Director. She holds degrees in Linguistics and Education. Jade is a passionate educator who believes that literacy is a key to opening doors for people so they can have better job opportunities, better health and a better life overall.
