Klezmer & Appalachian Roots with Zoe & Cloyd
Join Asheville-based husband-and-wife musicians, Zoe & Cloyd, for an exciting journey from the old world to the new, via their klezmer, old-time, and bluegrass roots. During this program, they will share songs and stories of their heritage, focusing on the repertoire of Natalya's grandfather, David Weinstein, who was a professional klezmer musician in Philadelphia and Atlantic City during the mid-1990s. They will also explore parallels between Appalachian folk music and klezmer, visiting the repertoire of John's grandfather, who was a professional bluegrass fiddler in Western North Carolina. The program will run 45-50 minutes, with time for questions at the conclusion.
