Chris Carey will give the first part of three practical presentations on the repair of the Waltham 16 size model 1899/1908 pocket watch because pocket watches are fun. This talk is aimed at the novice and hobbyist who is interested in learning to repair antique pocket watches or who just wants to gain an understanding about how they work. Chris will continue on with subsequent zoom meetings with those who might want to try as a group to each dismantle and assemble one of these watches step by step at home live together through zoom.
The first presentation will include the identification and features of this model, how to open the various case styles, the stem/sleeve and crown, and crystal installation. If time allows, we will go over the various parts of the mechanism, letting down the power, and the operation of the setting mechanism.
