Dismantling white supremacy within ourselves and our communities is an act of love. Join SURJ SCC to explore how stepping outside our comfort zones to have difficult conversations about racism and white supremacy is part of the process of dismantling. In the workshop we’ll look at principles of calling-in people when we witness racial and other forms of harm. We’ll also look at why, in some cases, we call them out. Then, we’ll dive in and practice so we can leave feeling more equipped to get out there and show up for collective liberation.
"If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time, but if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." Lila Watson
Although SURJ has a multiracial membership, the focus is on bringing more white people into learning and unlearning whiteness and taking action for justice. This is why our workshops are geared towards folks who identify and present as white-bodied, though all bodies are welcome.
