Democracy Day Training, January 18th and 19th, 7 pm.

Get ready for our Democracy Day rally on Tuesday, January 24th by learning more about our Virginia General Assembly, how to interact with legislators, and key campaign finance bills which we are trying to get passed into law. Join two short trainings which will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 18th and Thursday, Jan 19th.

1. Wednesday, January 18th, 7 pm. Heidi Drauschak will provide an overview the General Assembly, how it functions, key dates of interest when following legislation. She will also provide best practices on how to engage with legislators in lobbying meetings.

2. Thursday, January 19th, Nancy Morgan, coordinator of BigMoneyOut VA, will provide an overview of key campaign finance legislation which is being introduced this year in our General Assembly, describe the key legislative players and committees which are essential for passing legislation. She will also provide a brief introduction to the Legislative Services Information portal which is useful for monitoring the status of bills. Finally, participants will be provided with easy entry points for action to promote key bills.
