Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum wrote her classic book nearly 23 years ago and has since updated the content to include recent historical events. It has reemerged as a best-seller in these days, as so many strive to learn how to personally be part of the solution to racism in America. A professor at Mount Holyoke College at the time, Dr. Tatum found that many of her students had a passion to learn about racial identity.
Her response was her book, and the book that will be used in this class: Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria: And Other Conversations About Race. You may purchase the book from the Sheridan office, or get a copy on your own.
