This talk is about the “why” and “so whats” of software development and is for anyone who wants their organization to be more successful. This applies to organizations that sell software or develop software to deliver value. We’ll review industry research (outlined in Accelerate) that shows causal links between certain practices and organization wide performance metrics like profitability, ROI, customer satisfaction, and competitiveness. We’ll define leadership, management, technical, and cultural practices in ways that can be measured and used to predict your organization’s success.

1) There is industry-wide research that uncovered predictive relationships between certain process metrics and your organization’s likelihood to succeed.

2) The DORA research provides a complete capability model of a software organization including leadership, management, technology, and culture.

3) Understanding the DORA model allows you to measure your capabilities, benchmark your organization against the industry, and make improvements using the scientific method.
