Experts: Rory Eckardt, Denisa Mindruta, and Evan Starr
Moderators: Rhett Brymer and John Mawdsley
Have you ever thought of an interesting research question but do not know how to test it? Do you have great theory and data but struggle to develop an empirical design? Then this seminar is for you. We discuss the new empirical methods that promise to be important for Strategic Human Capital scholars in the next ten years. We bring together leading experts in three methodologies to discuss the research opportunities offered by cutting edge empirical techniques: Rory Eckardt (Binghamton U.) discusses multilevel methods to measure and analyze emergent phenomena concerning how individual level human capital is transformed and amplified into a unit level resource; Denisa Mindruta (HEC Paris) discusses matching methods, such as two-sided matching in labor market contexts; and Evan Starr (U. of Maryland) provides insights into how to deal with issues of identification and endogeneity using econometric methods.
