PHN Presents: Massachusetts Mandates Passive House Certification - What? Why? How? When?
Massachusetts has adopted a new building energy code that mandates Passive House Certification for large multifamily buildings in jurisdictions that adopt it, which to date include Cambridge, Brookline, Somerville and Watertown with likely dozens more cities and towns adopting in the coming months. The mandate is part of a shift in focus away from overall EUI as the key indicator of building performance, toward Thermal Energy Demand Intensity or TEDI. Find out why this move has been made, the specifics of implementation and how Passive House can help Massachusetts deliver on its building performance goals as the state moves to lead the nation in comprehensively building a sustainable future.
