Mary Gellatly – “PCLS and the Workers’ Action Centre”
PCLS is committed to building the workers’ movement. We will discuss how we have done so through supporting the development of a worker-led organization and campaigns to improve wages and working conditions.
Toni Schweitzer – “Kanthasamy, medical inadmissibility, and reunifying Tibetan families: notes on 3 examples of achievements rooted in community lawyering”
PCLS uses the law to make progressive changes in the law. The power of working collaboratively with our community is examined through 3 successes that highlight the progressive possibilities of the law.
Cole Webber – “PCLS and the Right to Housing”
PCLS supports apartment building and neighbourhood-based tenant organizations to defend against evictions and rent increases. Organizing by tenants in the Parkdale neighbourhood has inspired new initiatives by tenants across Ontario, including under pandemic conditions.
