In 2020, the IDCCA launched a statewide Virtual Training Series (VTS) to help train County Chairs, Precinct Committeepersons, Volunteers, & Candidates throughout Illinois. The VTS is an hour-long session that connects grassroots Democrats with elected officials & politicos to help build their organizations.
All trainings start at 6pm (unless otherwise noted). The training will last around an hour with a 15 minute Q&A session at the end.
This session we will focus on the nuts & bolts of municipal budgeting. This session is specifically targeted for new and current Democratic County Board, City Council, Village Board, etc. officials to help provide them with resources. This VTS session will be part of a series of sessions targeted at new and currently elected Democrats.
The training will be conducted by Chasse Rehwinkel. Chasse Rehwinkel currently serves as the Acting Director of Banking at Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). In 2017, Rehwinkel was the Chief Economist for the Illinois State Comptroller Office, where he worked on issues of state liquidity, public budgeting, and access to capital.
Prior to the Comptroller’s office, Chasse served as the Director of Policy for the Illinois State Treasurer. In this role, Chasse served as the chief policy advisor for the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office, an office that oversees the management of $25 billion in total assets including the State’s portfolio, the LGIP Illinois Funds, the 529 college savings plans Bright Start and Bright Directions, Illinois’ agricultural linked deposit program Ag Invest, as well as many other state savings and lending programs. In addition to his roles in the State Comptroller and Treasurer’s offices, Chasse worked in a number of state and local government roles,
