Working With Native Americans: Understanding History and Current Status
This training will cover historical context, including Federal Indian Laws that have impacted tribes across the United States, leading to historical or intergenerational trauma. The training will also cover current issues experienced by Native Americans due to systemic oppression and how it directly impacts Native Americans. The speaker for this event will be Anne LaFrinier-Ritchie. She is an Anishinaabe woman, born and raised on the Fond Du Lac reservation, and whose family is from the White Earth Reservation. She currently works as a Regional Navigator with Someplace Safe in west central Minnesota. Anne has been active in anti-trafficking work in Minnesota and North Dakota for the past 4 years.
