"How Information Mapping Clearly Conveys
the Useful Content Software Quality Demands”

Presentation 6:30-8pm / Breakout Networking Precedes 6:00-6:30pm

Speaker: Patrick Orr / Account Executive at Information Mapping, Inc.

People hate documentation, both doing it--because it’s hard and takes time away from “more valuable” efforts--and using it--because it never seems to be what is needed. Yet, quality relies on documentation to identify what to create and how to confirm the right thing has been created right; and quality suffers when documentation falls short. Learn how the Information Mapping methodology makes documentation both easier and at the same time actually useful so we better build and confirm quality software.

· Why documentation projects fail
· Information Mapping methodology’s three stages to success
· Three components, six information types, and six research-based principles

Patrick Orr is a sales executive with a passion for communication, writing and documentation. After nearly a decade conducting and publishing research at RAND Corporation, he became interested in improving communication so readers better understand and use information. Patrick came across the research behind the Information Mapping Methodology for standardized content, and has since worked at the company supporting quality programs in Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Government. He's given talks at IIBA, ASQ, and USET utilities summit. When not blowing people’s minds that documentation is actually really interesting, Patrick lives in the Greater Boston area with his wife and two dogs, and is an avid soccer player and fan.
